Confederate Memorial Day Observance
The venue for the Confederate Memorial Day observance on Sunday, June 8, has been changed from Arlington National Cemetery to the Chapel of the Centurion at Fort Monroe at 1:00 p.m. Charter bus service is still available. The bus will leave from the Historical Society (next to our building) at 11:00 a.m. on June 8. The $35.00 cost remains the same and includes round trip bus fare and a box lunch. You may use the reservation slip printed in the March issue of The UDC Magazine for the trip to Arlington National Cemetery, download a revised form from this website, or send a note with your name and a check to the Business Office.
Instead of the traditional wreaths, Divisions will present roses (available from the Jefferson Davis Memorial Committe for $5.00 each—please make checks payable to Treasurer General UDC and mail to the Business Office). Dr. James I. Robertson will speak on "Jefferson Davis - Forgotten Patriot". Tours of the Casemate will be available from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
