• The Caroline Meriwether Goodlett Library is a research facility open to UDC members and non-members by appointment. Included in its collection are books relating to Southern history, diaries, letters and other archival materials suitable for research on the War Between the States.

• The Helen Walpole Brewer Library was established in 1996 through a generous bequest of the late Helen Walpole Brewer. It contains microfilm copies of the National Archives Compiled Confederate Service Records and a limited number of regimental histories, family histories, pension records, and cemetery records.

The libraries are open by appointment only (e-mail the UDC Library Coordinator at hqudc@rcn.com).

Research Options

Submitting Requests

All requests must be submitted in writing accompanied by the appropriate researcher's fee (check made payable to “Treasurer General UDC”) and a business-size self-addressed envelope. Requests must be addressed to the attention of UDC Libraries.

If you wish to request military record research, please visit our Web site listed above and follow the link to either of our libraries or to our Confederate Ancestor Research Form. Please carefully observe the form's instructions. If you do not have access to the site, the research form is printed in the UDC Magazine periodically, or you may call or FAX us, and we will be glad to send you the form. Only the research form marked “Revised 8/04” will be accepted. FEES COVER CLERK'S SEARCH TIME.

“Prospective Member” rates are extended only to persons who have
been invited to join a specific Chapter. Name of Chapter and Chapter
Registrar extending the invitation must be included.
